Melvin Hall

Melvin R. Hall, 78, of Spartanburg, SC, died Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at his home. Born January 14, 1944, in Memphis, TN, he was the son of the late Hammond D. Hall and Martha Garrett Hall Mulkey.

A US Army Reserve veteran, Mr. Hall was a graduate of University of Memphis where he earned a bachelor’s degree. Melvin was retired from Georgia Pacific after 40 years of service.

A resident of Spartanburg, SC since 1987, he was a member of Spartanburg Rotary Club and St. James United Methodist Church.

Melvin was an avid golfer, mountain biker, exercise enthusiast, and bird watcher. He enjoyed his time with his sons and family.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Ingram Hall, his sons, Steve Hall (Lorena) of High Point, NC, and Jason Hall (Janet) of Duncan, SC, his granddaughters, Regan Hall and Meredith Hall, his grandsons, Hammond Hall and Garrett Hall, his sister, Sadonia Grimmer (Jim) of Nashville, TN, and sister-in-law, Patricia Hall of Millington, TN. He was predeceased by his brother, Ezra Hall.

A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, 213 N. Lanford Road, Spartanburg, SC 29301 or to Gibbs Cancer Center, SRHS Foundation, 101 East Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
