Melissa Dawn Turman

Melissa “Missy” Dawn Turman, 50, of Spartanburg, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, after an extended illness. Missy was born September 29, 1975, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of Carolyn Thomas Smith of Spartanburg and the late Leland Edward Smith.

Missy was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and was a former employee of Apria Health. She attended Church at the Mill and her favorite pastime was enjoying time at the beach.

Along with her mother, Missy is survived by her loving husband, Michael Roy Turman; her daughters, Lauren Escudero (Christian) of the home and Alyssa Waters (Jimmy) of Gaffney, SC; a step-son, Aaron Turman (Kylie) of Pauline, SC; three adored grandchildren, Violet, Kinleigh, and Colson; two sisters, Pam Arnold (David) of Spartanburg and Susan Skinner (Barry) of Jonesville; her father-in-law, Roy Turman (Sue) of Wellington, AL; and her mother-in-law, Paula Darrow (Jesse) of Lugoff, SC.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-5:45 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2026, at Trinity Baptist Church, 390 Wingo Heights Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. A funeral service to honor God and celebrate Missy will follow at 6:00 p.m., in the church sanctuary.
