Mary Lou Dill 91, a beloved wife, mother, "Annie", and friend, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 18, 2024, in Spartanburg, SC. She graced this world with her presence on January 11,1933, in a life that would span over nine decades of cherished memories, devoted relationships, and profound contributions to her community.
An alumna of Taylors High School and Draughon's Business School in Greenville, SC, Mary Lou placed great importance on education and lifelong learning. Her incredible organizational skills and knack for planning were evident not just in her career but also in her personal life. She was an avid cook and gardener, often found preparing meals for her family or tending to her beloved plants, bringing beauty and nourishment to their lives. Mary Lou was a pillar of faith and community. A dedicated member of Trinity Presbyterian Church, she later found her spiritual home at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, where she nurtured her faith and formed lasting friendships. Her unwavering commitment to her church and community reflected her loving and generous spirit.
Mary Lou was a woman of remarkable dedication and hard work. She proudly served her community for 30 years at Springs Industry, where her efforts were deeply appreciated. In addition to her career, she was the proud owner of "Mary's Bridal Services," channeling her passion for weddings into a successful business that brought joy to countless couples on their special day. Her ability to create beautiful moments was admired and cherished by many.
She celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage to her loving husband, Alvin Dill. Their partnership was built on mutual respect, love, and a deep understanding of one another. Together, they crafted a beautiful life, nurturing their family and creating cherished memories.
Mary Lou is survived by her husband, Alvin Dill; her son, Reverend Robin Dill; her daughter, Phyllis Owens (Eddie); and her grandchildren: Christopher Stevens (Megan), Crystal Cook (Steven), Matthew Crowe, Brooke Crowe, Eddie Owens II (Ericka), Amanda Owens, and Scott Owens, great-grandchildren; Mary Stevens, Charli Stevens, Maverick Stevens, Abigail Mathis, Adyson Mathis, Finleigh Cook, Jordan Rider, Braylee Owens, and Barry Owens and Anakin Owens, as well as her great-great-grandchild, Braxton Dill. Mary Lou was preceded in death by her parents, George Grant Sr. and Gladys Hall Grant, and her eleven siblings.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Mary Lou's life during the visitation on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. She will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens located at 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29307 at 2:00 PM.
