Obituary

Marty Gregory Jolly, 71, of Inman, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, North Carolina.

Marty was born May 25, 1955, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He was the son of the late Ralph Frances Jolly and the late Annie Ruth Gunter Jolly. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Tina Fay Jolly.

Marty graduated from Spartanburg High School in 1974 and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force where he specialized in helicopter maintenance and achieved numerous certifications. After retiring from the military, he continued to have a successful career for 26 years as an electronic technician with Micro Control Company. Marty was a tinkerer. He enjoyed building computers and guns, as well as fixing electronic devices and cooking in his spare time. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time outdoors fishing, hunting and enjoying every aspect of nature. Just recently, he went dove hunting with his brother and had a great time! He always made himself available to jump in and help wherever possible when someone needed him. However, his most favorite thing to do was spend time with family, friends and everyone’s fur-babies. Marty will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with him.

Left to cherish Marty’s many wonderful memories are his daughter: Gabrielle Rivera (Marcelino); his two sons: Sammy Jolly (Rose) and Darien Jolly (Sondra); a brother: Tony Jolly (Terry); and eight grandchildren: Payton Stucy, Taylor Stucy, Oliver Jolly, Henry Jolly, Addison Jolly, Corbin Jolly, Ethan Jolly, and Logan Jolly.

A graveside service to honor Marty’s life will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, October 8, 2026, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens where he will be laid to rest next to his parents.

Marty will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Spartanburg Humane Society, Charles George VA Medical Center, or Wounded Warriors Project.

The arrangements are trusted to the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
