Martha Elma Williams

Spartanburg, SC

Martha Elma Wiliams was blessed to be 96 years of age before entering into the arms of her Lord and Savior and joining her late husband: Austin Blackburn Williams, in heaven for eternity. She passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

Martha was born in McRae, Georgia, the daughter of the late Ernest Phillip Massey and the late Mattie Beatrice Ashley. She was a 1947 graduate of Telfair County High School. She earned her Register Nurse Degree from Mercer University School of Nursing. She went on to a successful career with Spartanburg Regional Hospital as a registered nurse, then moving to their Inservice and the Ask a Nurse Program before retiring in 1994.

On April 12, 1952, Martha married the love of her life: Austin Blackburn Williams. She was a lady of faith and was dedicated to read her daily morning devotions. As a devoted member of St, John’s Lutheran Church she actively supported circle 3. Her passions were for genealogy, family, and cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Martha will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish Martha’s precious memories are her sons and daughter-in laws: Michael Thomas and Sherry Williams , and Jeffery Massey and Vickie Williams; grandchildren: Benjiman Austin Williams, Jamie Michelle Williams, Eva Culp, Cameron Culp, and Chad Williams; great grandchildren: Braden James Arthur, Hailyn Hope Arthur, Carter Culp, Copper Evans, and Walker Culp; sister and brother: Donna Carol Forth and David Nelson Giggs.

The family will receive friend between 12:00 – 1:15 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, The graveside service to honor Martha’s life will follow at 1:30 PM at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens – Heritage Chapel with Rev. Heather Apel officiating.

Martha’s memories will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved her.

The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you for memorials made in Martha’s memory to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
