Marie Lowery Chesnee

Marie Lowery Chesnee, 95, of Spartanburg SC, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025. Marie was born in Eastman, Georgia to the late Leo Monroe Lowery and Myrtice Jeanette Williams Lowery. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm (Mike) Chesnee, a sister, Merle Pruitt, a brother, Alvin Lowery, and two granddaughters, Jessica Powell and Michelle Jordan.

Marie was blessed to have been married to Mike for 70 years. During their loving marriage, they had three children: Gary Malcolm Chesnee, Steven George Chesnee and his wife Brigitte, Suzanne Marie Chesnee McGeorge and her husband Barry. She was also blessed with seven grandchildren: Jamie Capa and her husband Ben, Christopher Chesnee, Jennifer Jones, Joshua Chesnee and his wife Brittany, Annelise Chesnee, Kristen Ponsell and her husband Adam, and Bryan Chesnee. She also had thirteen great grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.

Marie was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She truly enjoyed attending church, bible study, and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, collecting bird figurines, and spending time with her family at the beach. She was an active volunteer in the community for many years. She was also a long-time member of Evangel Cathedral Church and volunteered there as well.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 at J.F. Floyd Mortuary located at 235 North Church St., Spartanburg SC 29306. Visitation will be held at 11:00 and the service will be at 12:00. The service will be conducted by Reverend Jan King in the Chapel. Burial will follow at Wood Memorial Park located at 863 Gap Creek Road, Greer, SC.
