Margaret “Susie” Russell, 72, of Spartanburg, South Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025, at her residence surrounded by family.
Susie, as she was affectionately known, was born In Gaffney, South Carolina the daughter of the late John Joe Erwin, Sr and the late Eula Childers Erwin. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Jerry Oliver Russell, Sr; three brothers: Michael, John, and Randy Erwin; also, a sister: Judy Erwin.
Susie never met a stranger and to meet her was to love her. She was a retired seafood manager with BiLo. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed gardening and cooking. She took great pleasure in feeding people, especially her family. She made the absolute best turkey dressing and will be remembered for her cherry cream cheese pie and her lemon cake. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Susie’s many memories are her daughter: Stacey Bogan (Glenn); a son: Jerry Russell, Jr (Sandi); one brother: Steve Erwin (Debbie); five grandchildren: Jessica Ruppe (Cameron), Wesley Russell (Kendal), Courtney Bogan , Savannah Thomas (Caleb), and Christian Russell (Kaycie). There are also numerous great grandchildren that will cherish her many memories for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The funeral service to honor Susie’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel with Pastor Clint Phillips officiating. The burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Cameron Ruppe, Caleb Thomas, John Huckabee, Brian Ervin, Joseph Davis, and Jerry Bogan.
The arrangements are entrusted into the care of Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel.
