Lucinda “Cindy” Bishop Roland, 70, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 27, 2025. Cindy was born in Tryon, North Carolina, to Sara Dorothy Capps Bishop and the late William Allen Bishop. Known for her kind heart and bright spirit, Cindy had a way of making everyone feel welcome and loved. She was a devoted member of Beaumont Baptist Church and for many years proudly worked alongside her husband in their family business, Roland Management. More than anything, Cindy loved her family deeply. She took great joy in time spent with her loved ones, whether that meant family dinners, holidays together, or simply sitting and sharing stories. Cindy had a special affection for flamingos, which perfectly suited her personality — colorful, graceful, and full of life. She was endlessly proud of her sons and their service to the country she cherished. She also found great happiness in traveling and spending time at the family’s Florida home, where she could relax and soak in the sunshine. To know Cindy was to love her — her laughter, her warmth, and her faith touched everyone around her. She will be dearly missed, but her light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Cindy’s many memories are husband: Gilbert Roland; her children: Robert A Tanenbaum, Ross Tanenbaum, Vincent Roland (Lisa), and Christie Mathison (Eric); two brothers: Tim Bishop (Amy) and Carroll Bishop (Mary); Grandchildren: Aniston Hoffman, Lorents Mathison, Darion Roland (Elizabeth), and Christian Roland (Leanne); great grandchildren: Cyprus Roland and Baron Roland; nephews: Joshua Bishop, Nicholas Blackman and Ethan Blackman.
The family will receive friends between 1:00 – 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
