With deep sorrow and abiding love, we announce the passing of Chief Warrant Officer 3 Louis Gene Peyton, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on Thursday, November 9, 1939, Louis was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a proud veteran who served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army.
Louis dedicated his life not only to service in uniform but also to the values of faith, family, and hard work. He lived with quiet dignity, unwavering strength, and a generous heart that left a lasting impact on everyone privileged to know him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Peyton, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and partnership.
Louis was a proud father to Shelly and her husband Dwain Blackburn, Steve and his wife Judy Price, Stacy and her husband Dan Clark, Mark, and his wife Evi Price.
He was a loving grandfather to Jennifer and her husband Will Smith, Timothy and his wife Keyaira Hughes, Amber and her husband Mike Peck, Emily Price, Alexander Price, Eva Price, Louis Hughes, Amanda Irish, Kyle Irish and Grace Imami.
Louis’s legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Ryan, Selah, Zion, Norah, Hailee, Jake, Madison, Bradley, Kayla, Charlie, Teagan, Annabell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ambrose and Ruby Peyton, as well as his children Doug Peyton and Sheri Price, and his sibling Virgil Peyton.
Louis will be remembered for his courage, loyalty, and deep love for his family. Whether in uniform or around the family table, he led by example—firm in his convictions, full of the Holy Ghost, and always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, May 9, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main St, Spartanburg, SC, 29307.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 10, 2025, North Spartanburg Church of God, 2069 Chesnee Hwy Spartanburg, SC. Followed by the internment at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307. Services will be conducted by The Rev. Brandon Ard and Rev. Larry Flippo.
In honor of his service, military rites will be conducted with full honors by the United States Army Honor Guard.
Though we mourn his passing, we rejoice in the legacy, he leaves behind a life well-lived for Jesus Christ, a family well-loved, and a faith well-kept.
