Obituary

Lorene “Lori” Joy Vos (Visscher), age 72, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, passed away on March 7, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Lori was born on April 27, 1953, in Platte, South Dakota, to the late Cornelius and Elsie Visscher. After spending her childhood in Platte, she attended and graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa with a degree in Education. Lori dedicated 29 years to teaching at the preschool and elementary level, spending the majority of her career teaching kindergarten at Ireton Christian School.

On December 21, 1974, Lori married the love of her life, Dell Vos. Together they made their home in Sioux Center, Iowa, for 45 years, where they raised their family and were active members of their church and community. In 2019, Dell and Lori moved to Boiling Springs, South Carolina, where they quickly formed meaningful friendships and became active in Boiling Springs First Baptist Church and the Bible Study Fellowship community.

Lori had a deep love for music and worship and spent several years singing in the Praise Four quartet and later in the choir at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church. She also served as a mentor mom with MOPS, encouraging and supporting young mothers. Her Christian faith was central to her life and guided the love and care she showed to family, friends, students, and her church community throughout her life.

Lori enjoyed reading, playing games, and making crafts. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching their activities, taking great joy in supporting them and celebrating their lives.

Lori was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her husband, Dell Vos; and their three daughters: Angela (Curt) Kopacek and their children, Lindsey and Nathan; Alissa (Brad) Isakson and their children, Luke, Will, and Josh; and Amanda (Patrick) Schwartz and their children, Ethan, Paige, and Nolan.

She is also survived by her siblings: brother Harvey Visscher (Elone), brother Cliff Visscher (Donna), and sister Beverly Groen; brothers-in-law Lauren Vos (Shirley) and Les Vos; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Cornelius and Elsie Visscher; her father[1]and mother-in-law, Wilbur and Arlone Vos; and her brother-in-law, Fred Groen.

Lori will be remembered for her strong faith and the deep love she had for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched as a teacher, mentor, friend, and devoted follower of Christ.

Funeral services for Lori will be held at Boiling Springs First Baptist Church on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The church is located at 3600 Boiling Springs Road, Boiling Springs, South Carolina 29316. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate Lori’s life. A brief burial service will be held the following week at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, Iowa.
