Linton "Lint" Webster Eberhardt, III, (76), well known Royston, GA business and community leader, died February 27, 2016 at Spartanburg Regional Heart Center. Mr. Eberhardt was a long-term resident of Royston, GA and a recent resident of Spartanburg, SC. Mr. Eberhardt was born April 8, 1939 in Dublin, GA. He was the son of the late Linton W. Eberhardt, Jr. and Eleanor Bailey Eberhardt. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice McConnell Eberhardt; son, Dr. Linton W. Eberhardt, IV of New York, NY; daughter, Laura Eberhardt Stille and son-in-law, Brand Reid Stille; grandchildren, Reid McConnell Stille and Ebbe Anne Stille of Spartanburg, SC; and brother, Guy Bailey Eberhardt (Melanie) of Macon, GA. Additionally, Lint is survived by brother-in-law, Lawson Jackson McConnell (Patricia) of Elberton, GA; nephews, Guy B. Eberhardt Jr. (Kimberly) of Macon, GA and L. Jackson McConnell, Jr. (Jenny) of Elberton, GA; nieces, Susan Eberhardt Kennedy (John) of Macon, GA and Katie McConnell Korotzer (Gary) of Piedmont, CA. Mr. Eberhardt attended public schools in Athens, GA, graduating Athens High School in 1957. He graduated from Emory at Oxford College in 1959 and the University of Georgia, BBA, in 1962 after serving in the United States Coast Guard. He received his MBA from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business in 1963. Lint began his banking career with Wachovia Bank in Winston Salem, NC. He later worked with SunTrust Bank in Augusta, GA and in 1971 joined his father-in-law, Lawson McConnell in business at Tri-County Bank of Royston, GA, now part of Pinnacle Financial Corporation of Georgia. He served as President and Chairman of the Board of Tri-County Bank until its merger with Pinnacle Bank in 1997, then served as Vice-Chairman of Pinnacle Financial Corporation and President of Pinnacle Bank of Georgia until his retirement. Mr. Eberhardt was a member and former deacon and treasurer of Royston Baptist Church in Royston, GA. He served as president and charter member of the Royston-Franklin Springs Rotary Club, from which he received the Paul Harris service award. He was director and president of the Royston-Franklin Springs Chamber of Commerce where he was honored as Businessman of the Year; chairman of the Royston Housing Authority Board of Trustees; member of the Emmanuel College Board of Trustees; chairman of the Royston Library Board; president of the Royston PTA and many other community positions of leadership and service. Lint and Alice moved to Spartanburg in 2007. They have been active members of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. Lint served the community as a volunteer for Mobile Meals, St. Luke's Medical Clinic, and the Habitat for Humanity Restore. Mr. Eberhardt's boundless devotion to his family was well known by all. He always treasured time spent with them and took great pleasure attending his children and grandchildren's school programs and sports activities. Lint loved the outdoors and he and family spent many happy times at their house at Lake Hartwell, GA, with countless hours behind the wheel of the boat patiently driving and teaching children to ski. In retirement, he and Alice discovered a little slice of heaven at their home on the Horsepasture River in Cashiers, NC where they loved to explore, relax, and entertain family and friends. Lint always encouraged his children to do their best in all endeavors and to live lives serving others with honesty, integrity and the highest of Christian values. He modeled this exemplary life with his beautiful Southern manners and grace, always kind and thoughtful to others - warm with a smile and a quick wit. He touched the lives of all who knew and loved him and will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2016 at First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg, 393 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29302, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Tom Evans and the Rev. Joanne Hull. A reception will follow the service at the Piedmont Club, 361 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Another Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at Royston Baptist Church, 767 Church St., Royston, GA 30662. Visitation will be held in the Royston Baptist Church Family Life Center from 12:00 - 1:30 PM, followed by the Memorial Service at 2:00 PM. A private family interment will follow.
