Obituary

Linka Swindle Moore, loving wife of Dan Moore, passed away on Oct.23 at her home. Linka was born on April 8, 1946 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Social Work and spent her life serving others. She worked with the Ellen Hines Smith Girls Home, the Children’s Shelter, and the Baptist Student Union at Wofford College.

Linka was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for 54 years, where she led with a servant’s heart. She taught Sunday School, organized the Morning Glories Clown Troupe, narrated numerous Christmas and Easter programs, and founded the Hearts & Hands Crafters card making ministry, sending beautifully made cards to those homebound or in prison. She loved spending her early morning hours with her Savior, Jesus Christ, where she prayed diligently for her family and friends. She loved watching the birds, tending her flowers, and crafts of all kinds. Most of all, she loved being "Inky" to her granddaughters.

Linka was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Willie Ruth Swindle. In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by her son, Jay and his wife, Kristy, as well as her granddaughters, Emma Kate and Anna. She is also survived by her brother, Nick Swindle and his wife Sherry of Opelika, Alabama.

The family would like to thank the angels on earth, who helped care for Linka: Ashley Miller, Ruth Garren, Tanya Spencer, Tonya Dudley, Annie Littlejohn, Hannah McIntyre, Aaliyah Miller, and Kassidy Miller. The Lord has given you a great ministry and you made her life so much better.

A celebration of a life well lived is planned for 2:00 PM on Oct. 28, 2026 at Morningside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:00 PM. Linka will be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.

Donations can be made to Morningside Baptist Church Hearts & Hands Crafters 897 S. Pine St, Spartanburg, SC 29302, or the Alzheimer's Association .
