Linda Dodgen Avery

Linda Dodgen Avery, 84, of Campobello, South Carolina, a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother entered her heavenly home on Sunday, July 19, 2026.

Linda was born in Columbia, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Ulyess Dodgen and the late Martha Elizabeth Young. She was an active member of Beaumont Baptist Church. She was also a retired medical assistant at the University of South Carolina Medical School. Linda was an avid reader and enjoyed playing the piano. She had a caring heart and was a volunteer with Transportation for Christ. Linda was loved by everyone that had the pleasure of meeting her. She will be greatly missed.

Left to treasure her many memories are her son: Bobby Hughes (Patty), grandchildren: Brittany Smith and Ian Hughes (Candace); four precious great grandchildren: Murray, Nora and Robyn Hughes, and Reagan Smith.

A memorial service to honor Linda’s life will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Beaumont Baptist Church, 945 Beaumont Avenue, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Pastor John Lee Will officiate the service. Linda will be laid to rest next to her parents in Columbia, SC.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorials made, in lieu of flowers, to Beaumont Baptist Church.
