Lex Allison Hegedus, age 65, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Wellford, South Carolina on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Born December 1, 1959, in Marietta, Ohio to John Hegedus and Audrey Irene Reeves Foster.
Lex served honorably for twelve years in the Army National Guard of South Carolina and retired in 2024 from a tenured career at Leigh Fibers, Inc.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he was known for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication, and deep love for his family – near and far.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia “Patty” Daniels Hegedus, their two sons John “JD” Hegedus (Patricia) and Jacob Hegedus (Briana), and two spoiled pups – Big and Lula. He was the proud grandfather to Lex, Daniel “Danny”, and Laura Allison “Allie” who were the joy of his life. His love for his grandchildren was unmatched, and he treasured every moment with them.
Visitation will be held 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm, Monday, May 12, 2025, Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel. 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29385. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, May 13, 2025, Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St. Ext., Roebuck, South Carolina 29376. The service will be conducted by The Rev. Chris Snelgrove.
Military honors will be provided by American Legion Spartanburg Post #28.
Lex will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
