Leslie Carol Hines

Leslie S. Hines, 76, of Spartanburg entered into eternal rest after an extended illness on Friday, February 28, 2025, at her home with her loved ones by her side.

Mrs. Hines was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, the daughter of the late William David Smith and the late Nellie Elizabeth Hughes Smith. She was also predeceased by her husband, Ben Hines.

Leslie worked several jobs as a single parent to provide for her two sons. She met her second husband, Ben Hines, while working at Fairforest Nursery. She then continued her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse and took pride in helping others. She took care of many patients in Spartanburg and Memphis before retiring from Myrtle Beach Manor. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memories are her two sons: Lt. Colonel Jeffrey “Jeff “David Owens (Lisa) and Christopher “Chris” Scott Owens (Cami); a grandson: Trevor; three granddaughters: Ashlyn, Abigail, and Madeline; four great granddaughters; two brothers: David Markley Smith (Brenda), and Robert Todd Smith; also, two very special friends, Kathy Cothran and Mary Hirsch.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the CNA’s, nurses, and all the other staff at Agape Hospice for their compassionate and professional care given to Leslie.

A celebration of life to honor Leslie’s life will be held at a later date.
