Lemar Edmond Arledge, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, was surrounded by family when he passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2026, at the age of 87. He was born on October 2, 1939, to the late William and Adeline Arledge. He was married to the love of his life, Linda Waters Arledge, for 58 years until her passing in 2021.
Lemar was a graduate of Boiling Springs High School (Class of 1958) and later joined the Army Reserves. He also received an Associate Degree with a Certificate in Machine Technology from Spartanburg County Technical Education Center. Most of his career was dedicated to being a Machinist at Sulzer Ruti. After he retired, he spent time doing contract work. He was a dedicated member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, where he rooted his family and served as a Deacon and was a longtime member of the Seekers Sunday School class.
Lemar spent his time rooting for the Clemson Tigers and enjoyed Sundays when NASCAR was on TV, but he loved spending time with his family most of all. He traveled all over the United States, making it a point to travel with his brothers and sisters by his side. Camping became a family tradition he passed down to his kids, then his grandkids.
Lemar’s favorite pastimes included a house full of laughter and conversation with good food on the table, because it meant he was surrounded by family and friends. His most meaningful titles were brother, husband, dad, and papa. Lemar and Linda were the proud parents of four amazing daughters, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was a family man at his core and devoted his life to caring for those around him. Steady, kind, helpful, generous, and faithful are just a few ways he will always be remembered.
Lemar is survived by his children, Cindy McNamara (Kevin), Kim Parks (Jeff), Angie Crenshaw (Allen), and Tami Steed (Kevin Sr.); grandchildren Jennifer Parks, Mandy Gentry (Chase), Natosha Clark (Ryan), Ashley Kucera, Alli Heard (Kevin), Casey Crenshaw (Bear), Kevin Steed Jr. (Kinsley), and Will Crenshaw (Avery); great-grandchildren, AJ Kucera, Holden Grice, Emmalin, Emerson, Emery, and Emilia Clark and Blakely, Hudson, and Sadie Steed, with one more on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Levi, Linda, Robert, and Vicki. He was predeceased by his wife, Linda, and granddaughter, Emma Grace Parks.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Cedarhurst Senior Living and caregiver Zaria for taking such great care of Lemar during his time there. They would also like to thank Spartanburg Regional Hospice House for their dedication and service.
Visitation will be 11:00 - 12:15 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Funeral Services will follow at 12:30 PM, conducted by Kris Showen and Jonathan Vaughan. Interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens will immediately follow
