Laura Ethelyn Mayes

Laura Ethelyn Mayes, 75, a lifelong resident of Spartanburg, passed away on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2024, at Levine and Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, NC. Laura was born on January 27, 1949, in Macon, GA, a daughter of the late Wilma and Fred Hemingway. 

Laura was a longtime member of Bethel Assembly of God and was currently a member of New Spring Church. She retired from Standard Products after many years of service. 

Surviving is her daughter, Lisa Sphabmixay (Tim) of Charlotte, NC; her grandchildren, Jonathan Gosnell (Courtney) and Christie Byrnside (Ethan); and her 9 great-grandchildren, Preston Sherbert, Gabriel Sherbert, Jaden Brackins, Haedyn Gosnell, Skyler Brackins, Jax Kincaid, Kennedy Byrnside, Ethan Byrnside, Jr., and Magnolia Byrnside. 

A Celebration of Laura’s Life will be held from 1:00-4:00 pm on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Tyger River Park Picnic Shelter A.
