Larry Hyder passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, following a brief illness.

Born in Germany, Larry was the son of the late Grady Lee Hyder and Dora M. Weltner Hyder. He attended Wofford College and later spent many years working in the textile industry.

Larry was an avid Carolina Panthers fan who loved football and enjoyed following politics. He was a proud supporter of President Donald Trump and had a lifelong passion for collecting coins. He cherished traveling with his mother and his beloved wife, especially to the beach and the mountains. Above all, Larry was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Martha Jean Hyder; his son, Kevin Hyder and wife, Stephanie; his cherished grandson, Jackson; his loyal companion, Charm and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brothers: Irvin Hyder and Darrell Steve Hyder.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, July 28, 2026, Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 with Rev. Bruce Tjelta officiating. The family will be receiving friends prior to service at 1:00 pm. 

Larry will be remembered for his love of family, his generous spirit, and the many treasured memories he created with those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed.
