L. C. Blackwell, 93, of Boiling Springs, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at RoseCrest. Born March 6, 1916, in Cherokee County, SC, he was the son of the late L. C. Blackwell, Sr. and Sarah Cash Blackwell. He was retired from Arkwright Mills Cateswood Plant. He was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church and attended Beaumont Baptist Church for 60 years where he was a member of the 75 Men's Sunday School Class. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Helen Phillips Blackwell; three daughters, Gay Burns and her husband Derrill of Boiling Springs, Gloria Walton and her husband Boyd of Spartanburg, and Kathy Logan and her husband Robin of Moore; a sister, Helen Blackwell Elder of Mayo; three grandsons, Todd Burns, Chad Walton, and Travis Dobbins and his wife Jennifer; two granddaughters, Alicia Fowler and her husband Ben, and Hilary Dobbins; two step-grandsons, Beau Walton and Jason Walton; three great-grandchildren, Philip Burns, Scott and Hope Fowler; and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by five brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be 12:00-1:45 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2009, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel conducted by the Rev. John Cox and the Rev. Rupert E. Guest. Private entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum.
