Kay Caldwell Holcombe, 80, passed away on April 11, 2026, in Spartanburg, SC. Born on March 23, 1946, in Spartanburg, Kay was the daughter of the late Samuel O. Caldwell and Evelyn A. Caldwell.
After graduating from Fairforest High School in 1964, and Spartanburg Junior College (Spartanburg Methodist College), she had an extensive career as a personal assistant for several local businesses.
Kay was an active, life-long member of El Bethel United Methodist Church. She was an avid reader and had a loving place in her heart for animals, always having pets.
Kay is survived by her sister, Donna C. Walker of Spartanburg. In addition to her sister, Kay is survived by her niece, Debbie W. Irby and nephew, Timothy L. Walker (Kimberly). Kay also leaves behind special great-nieces, Caroline H. Parris (JT), Elizabeth W. Sewell (Dakota), and Hannah H. Looney (Jacob). Kay had a sweet relationship with her great, great nephew, Rhett Walker Parris. She enjoyed visits with Rhett, who loved spending time with his Aunt Kay. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Jerry L. Walker.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm - 12:45 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 E. Main St., Spartanburg, SC 29307.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel followed by the burial in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Services will be conducted by Chaplain Tracy Hazel.
Kay's family would like to extend a special "thank you" for the love and care provided by Interim Hospice, specifically Joyce, Leighton, and Tracy. A special "thank you" is also extended to White Oak North Grove Memory Care for the wonderful care given to Kay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Spartanburg Humane Society at 150 Dexter Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
