Joyce Cook Clardy, born on August 27, 1937, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2026, she was 88 years old. Joyce is the daughter of the late Howard G. Cook and Olive S. Cook Fowler, and stepdaughter to the late Joseph Fowler.
Joyce was a graduate of Fairforest High School. She built her career as a Shipping Clerk at Jackson Mills, where she was respected for her diligent work ethic and dedication. She was a proud member of the United Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where she found joy and fulfillment in her faith and fellowship.
Joyce is survived by her loving daughter, Joy C. Baine, and her husband, Mark; her devoted daughter-in-law, Sharon Clardy; her caring sister, Faye C. Lands, and her husband, Richard; along with many special nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Joyce was preceded in death by her cherished husband, Gilbert R. Clardy; her beloved son, Gilbert Clardy, Jr.; and her dear sisters, Jane C. Gosnell and Jean C. Faux. The memories of joyous family gatherings, full of laughter and love, will forever remain etched in the hearts of those who loved her.
Joyce’s life will be celebrated with a graveside service beginning at 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, South Carolina, 29307. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Robert Emory of United Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank White Oak Estates & Family Hospice for their loving services.
Joyce's kindness, and spirit will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
