Joseph Mcgill

Joseph "Joe" Bruce McGill, 75, of Spartanburg, SC, died Sunday, February 7, 2016, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Born September 8, 1940, in Spartanburg, he was the son of the late William Wilkerson McGill and Arbelle Cash McGill Floyd and raised by his step-father, the late John Floyd. Mr. McGill loved his Lord, his wife, children, and grandchildren and was a member, deacon, and Sunday School teacher at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church. A U. S. Air Force veteran, he retired from the U. S. Postal Service after 25 years of service. Survivors include his beloved wife of 52 years, Joyce Elaine McCarter McGill of the home; sons, Rocky Bruce McGill (Cindy Lynn), Joseph Rex McGill, and Rodney Warren McGill (Regina Bailey), all of Chesnee, SC; granddaughters, Corey, Kayla, Katelyn, and Caroline McGill; and grandsons, Heath, Carter, Nicholas, and Kenny McGill; sisters, Norma Jean Dunn and Carolyn Patton, both of Startex, SC; and brother, William Floyd of Wellford, SC. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Rhonda Joyce McGill, daughter-in-law, Nicole Heath McGill; and half-brothers, Bill, Bob, and Ed McGill. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, February 12, 2016, at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 13, 2016, at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church, by the Rev. Michael Boyter, the Rev. Ty Childers, and Mr. Wayne Tolleson. Burial, with military honors, will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers are Rex McGill, Rodney McGill, Heath McGill, Carter McGill, Kenny McGill, Nicholas McGill, Joe McCarter, William Floyd, Johnny Dunn, Jim Morgan, and Jack Fortner.
