Joseph Wayne Grigg

Spartanburg

On April 19, 2024, the world lost a truly remarkable individual, Joseph Wayne Grigg, known affectionately as "Wayne".  Mr. Grigg was born on July 20, 1946, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and passed away at his residence in Spartanburg after bravely battling a long illness.
 
Wayne led a life filled with dedication and service. He served his country with honor in the Army during the 1968 TET Offensive of the Vietnam War. Wayne was a member of the DAV, VVA, and America Legion Post 28.

Following his military service, Wayne embarked on a career as an engineer at Bellsouth/ATT, where his expertise and professionalism earned him great respect in the business world.
 
Beyond his professional endeavors, Wayne was a man of unwavering faith. For 43 years, he was a steadfast member of First Baptist Spartanburg. He was also a faithful member of the Gideons, International-Spartanburg West Camp and had served in various positions such as Area Director, Camp President, etc. His commitment to his beliefs was truly inspirational and left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
 
Wayne enjoyed life. He had been a private pilot of his own plane; cherished moments spent with his family; enjoyed exploring new destinations through travel; and created memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Wayne had also been a member of the Masons, Hejaz Shriners, Telephone Pioneers of America, Breakfast Optimist Club, and Civitan Club.

Among his proudest accomplishments was his loving marriage of 29 1/2 years to his beloved wife Martha Revels Grigg, surviving also; son Brian Grigg (Lena); daughter Addie Grigg; stepchildren Shane Revels (Karen), Kim Huntsinger (Charles); grandchildren Leo Grigg, Abby Revels, Bella Revels; Step-grandchildren Zachary Painter, Matthew Painter, Piper Fleming; siblings Lewis Jerreld Grigg, Jean Foster (Doug), sister-in-law Barbara Grigg; special friend Jessie White; and faithful canine companion Pebbles. Wayne was predeceased by parents Clayton and Effie Grigg; siblings Kennith Grigg, Carol Edwards. 

Services to honor and celebrate the remarkable life of Joseph Wayne Grigg will take place on April 24th at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel 2075 E. Main Street Spartanburg, SC 29307. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM. The burial with military honors will then take place at noon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd. Spartanburg, SC 29307.
