John Carrigan Walko, age 74, born October 8, 1950 in Glen Ridge, NJ, raised in Sparta NJ, passed away on September 14, 2025 in Spartanburg, SC. He was the son of the late John French Walko and Barbara Marie Carrigan. John was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, loved by many for his engaging spirit and wonderful sense of humor.

John was a graduate of Sparta High School, Sparta NJ, went on to University of Tennessee and completed his Bachelor of Science at Mars Hill College. In high school John lettered in five different sports and held school records in many Track and Field events. He dedicated 28 years of his life to RGIS Inventory before spending another 10 years with Lowe's, as a dedicated and committed employee. John had a passion for the great outdoors; he enjoyed hiking and camping and had a love for the ocean.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lynn Norton Walko; daughter, Morgan Bell, (Bill); and his grandsons who he loved dearly, Ronan Bell and Cian Bell; daughter Kathy Boyce (Chris); son John Walko (Chris); sisters, Donna Walko Provost and Kathy Wilson (Will), and nieces Sarah Melton and Katie Wilson; nephews, David Norton (Cathy), and Travis Norton (Melissa); great nieces Jessica Norton, Chloe Norton, and Halee West; great nephews, Brandon Norton and Jordan Norton; and his aunt, Louise Walko.

In honor of John, the family requests donations be made to Spartanburg Regional Healthcare Hospice Home, 686 Jeff Davis Dr., Spartanburg, SC 29303 or to Cocker Spaniel Adoption Center, P.O. Box 1704, Westminster, MD 21158-5704...In memory of Candy Lou, adopted in 2021, John had been her devoted and loved human.
