John Francis Hartnett, Sr. passed from this life on September 3, 2026. He was the son of the late Christopher C. and Kathryn L. Hartnett, Sr., of Charleston, South Carolina.

John was a graduate of Clemson University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Industrial Education. He served as Director of the Pennell Vocational Center at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind, as well as Director of Campus Support Services at the school. Earlier in his life, John worked as a master plumber in Charleston, South Carolina.

John was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Hartnett, of Moore, South Carolina; daughters: Kathy Hartnett of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Allison Menendez (Joey); son, John Hartnett, Jr. (Stacy); granddaughters, Madison and Holly Collins; grandson, Sam Hartnett; and step-grandchildren, Adriana and Colton Menendez.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a daughter Patti Michel (Jerry).

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at J.F. Floyd Mortuary, North Church Street Chapel. A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home, where family and friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship and remembrance.

Burial will take place at Nazareth Presbyterian Church Cemetery at a later date.
