John Camby

John Thorne Camby, 67, of Spartanburg, SC died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at his home. Born November 26, 1954 in Spartanburg County, SC, he was the son of Shirley Thornton Camby and the late Millard Dewey Camby, Jr.

John was a Wofford College graduate and the owner of Piedmont Textiles and Recycling. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg. John was an avid Clemson University fan.

Survivors include his daughters, Meredith C. Hartman (Christopher) of Charlotte, NC and Elizabeth C. Polley (Charles) of Eschenbach, Germany; three grandchildren, James, Camby, and Mills; his brother, Millard Bregman Camby of Spartanburg, SC; and his longtime companion, MaryLynn Yarnell of the home.

A Celebration of Life service and Committal will be at 3:00 PM Sunday, March 13, 2022 at Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church, 6001 SC-215, Pauline, SC 29374, conducted by The Rev. Dr. B. E. Pettit. Visitation will follow the committal in the Family Life Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Glenn Springs Presbyterian Church.
