Joe Paul Tutterrow, 84, of Boiling Springs, South Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, following a brief illness.
Born on July 2, 1942, in Lenoir City, Tennessee, Joe moved with his family to Southern Shops, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, in 1956. He was the youngest of five children born to the late Marion Smith Tutterow and the late Nellie Mae Hunt Tutterow.
After graduating from Fairforest High School in 1961, Joe began a career in the wholesale plumbing industry. In 1963, he became an employee and co-founder of McRey’s Distributors, where he faithfully worked until the company's closing in 2023.
Joe was proudly "specially selected" to serve in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966. An avid athlete, he played softball and basketball throughout high school and later on church teams. During the 1970s and 1980s, he also owned and operated a business insulating newly constructed homes.
Joe spent much of his life on small farms, eventually establishing his own family farm in 1980. While he enjoyed many family vacations over the years, his greatest pleasures were spending Saturdays at the flea market and making lasting memories with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Sams Tutterrow; their four children, Pam, Joe, Mark (Tina), and Brian (Melissa); his sister, Alma Griffin of Moore, South Carolina; six brothers/sisters-in-laws; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews who were an important and cherished part of his life.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Tutterow, Frank Tutterow, and Glenn Tutterrow, as well as his son-in-law, Joel Morris.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chapel.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Floyd's Boiling Springs Chape with military honors. Burial will follow at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens in Wellford, South Carolina.
