Jo Anne Allen Brown

Jo Anne Allen Brown, 92, a longtime resident of Spartanburg, passed away on May 5, 2026, surrounded by her children.

Mrs. Brown, born March 24, 1934, was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Ronald Preston Brown and her parents, Furman Wylie Allen and Bonnie Belle Barnett Allen. Along with her husband and parents, Mrs. Brown was predeceased by her sisters, Mona Allen Evans and Betty Allen Hammond.

Survivors include sons, Michael Brown (Kathy) of Charlotte, NC; David Brown of Jacksonville, FL; and daughter Andrea Brown Pouncey (Bill) of Columbia, SC; grandchildren Adam and Aaron Brown (Dylan), Marshall and Tyler Brown, Ben and Brad (Jillian) Pouncey and Beth Pouncey Rupp (Jacob) and great grandchildren Macie Brown and Zoey, Ava and Reign Rupp.

Mrs. Brown was involved in all aspects of her family’s passions and achievements. Along with her love and pride of her family, her days were filled with a love and care of her yard, and daily visitation of numerous birds to her feeders.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg since 1959. She was a Grade 1 Sunday School teacher in the Children’s Department for decades.

Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by Rev. Larry Allen. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
