Jennie Sue Sentell Vess, 89, of Boiling Springs, passed away on Wednesday morning, May 8, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Jennie was born on November 12, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, a daughter of the late William Ben and Fannie Fisher Sentell. She was married to the late George Edward Vess, Sr.
Jennie was a faithful and devoted member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church for 60 years. She very much enjoyed being a member of the Love Sunday School Class. Jennie was a true scouting mother, being involved with Troop 19, Boy Scouts of America and Troop 55, Girl Scouts of America. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Jennie is survived by her daughter, Teresa Vess Rollins (Terry) of Boiling Springs; her sons, Ed Vess (Teresa) and Kenny Vess (Sandi) of Inman; her 6 grandchildren, Eddie Vess (Katherine), Jake Rollins (Melissa), Jessica Rollins, Kelsey Vess, Caroline Kristofferson (Rodney) and Robbie Vess (Serena); and 9 great-grandchildren. Jennie was predeceased by a son, Kevin Vess, and a sister, Mary Franklin.
A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 10, 2024, at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Ronnie Norris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303.
