Jeanne Denton Charles

Betty Jeanne Beam Denton Charles, 93, of Spartanburg, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 26, 2025, at her home. Jeanne was born April 17, 1932, in Blacksburg, SC, the daughter of the late Carl “Hap” and Lorene Broome Beam.

Jeanne was a graduate of Blacksburg High School and was a longtime member of Southside Baptist Church, where she was active for many years as a teacher in the Sunday School department.

Along with her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husbands, Lee Ray Denton in 1987 and Marvin Waldo Charles in 2013.

Surviving is her son, Stephen L. Denton; her daughter, Susan Denton Geier; four grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family will have a private service to celebrate Jeanne’s life at a later date.
