Jay Littlejohn

Jesse Broadus “Jay” Littlejohn, 75, of Spartanburg and a longtime resident of Chapin and West Columbia, passed away on Sunday afternoon, September 24, 2023, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Jay was born July 10, 1948, in Spartanburg, a son of Valerie Edwards Littlejohn of Spartanburg and the late Victor Boyd Littlejohn. He has been married to Susan Ramsey Littlejohn for the past 45 years. 

Jay was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbia, SC. A 1970 graduate of Clemson University, Jay was employed as a Safety Engineer/Loss Control Manager with Commercial Property and Casualty Insurance Company for nearly 45 years. He was a member of the West Columbia Lions Club and was the founder of the Facebook group “Spartanburg-Memories of Growing Up in the 50’s & 60’s”. Jay was a veteran having served in the US Army Reserves for a number of years. 

Along with his wife and his mother, Jay is survived by two sisters, Barbara Littlejohn Burnett (Bill) of Pacolet, SC and Vicky Littlejohn Page (Jim) of Duncan, SC; his nieces and nephew, Shannon B. Stancil (Micah), Christie Burnett (Jamie Lister), Dylan Burnett (Sarah), and Ashley Page; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Hillary S. Roper (Jacob), Caleb B. Huskey, Mack B. Stancil, Raegan B. Lambert, Gavin H. Stancil and Rylee L. Burnett; and one great-great-nephew, Griffin W. Roper. 

The family will receive friends 11:30 am-12:45 pm Thursday, September 28, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Jay’s funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm in the Chapel. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. 

Members of the Facebook Group “Spartanburg-Memories of Growing Up in the 50’s & 60’s” will serve as honorary pallbearers.
