Janet Rachael Mason, 88, of Spartanburg, South Carolina, passed away on August 19, 2026.

Born in Startex, South Carolina, Janet was the daughter of the late Turner Gladstone McAbee and Myrtle Mae Thompson McAbee. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harold Dean Mason, who passed away in 2018.

Janet worked for many years as a seamstress in the textile industry. A faithful woman with a generous heart. Janet was known as a wonderful cook, and some of her family’s fondest memories were gathered around the table enjoying the delicious Sunday dinners.

She enjoyed coloring, spending time with her grandchildren and family camping trips shared throughout the years. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her son, Robert Dean Mason; daughter-in-law, Keri Mason; ten grandchildren; and her brother James G. McAbee; along with other extended family members and loved ones.

She was predeceased by her son, Jonathan Turner Mason; and her brothers: Douglas L. McAbee and Kenneth Lee McAbee.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Fort Prince Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Jeff Hickman officiating.
