James Sims Trowbridge, 89, of Spartanburg, SC passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Prisma Greer Memorial Hospital, with his wife and daughter by his side.
Jim was born on August 20, 1933 in Hamilton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Frederick G. Trowbridge and Marie G. Trowbridge of Vero Beach, Florida and the brother of the late Sally T. Blackwelder of Chapel Hill, NC.
He was a graduate of Ft. Lauderdale High School, The University of Florida and The American Graduate School of International Business.
Jim worked as a Structural Engineer for over 40 years and was registered as a Licensed Engineer in several states. In 1990 he retired from a corporate company to start his own business, taking great pride in building it up and in the work for his customers.
An US Air Force veteran, having served overseas and in Air National Guard Units as a Fighter Pilot, Jim was a member of the VFW, The Sons of the American Revolution and in several Engineering Societies.
Jim played golf with a passion but also enjoyed ballroom dancing in social settings with his wife Christina of 49 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Christina H. Trowbridge, their loving daughter, Nicole Trowbridge Engler, (Hans-Joerg) of Downers Grove, Illinois, and their precious twin children, Benjamin T. Engler and Oliver P. Engler. Jim is also survived by two nephews, Chip Blackwelder (Cathy) of Blowing Rock, NC (and their families) and Dan Blackwelder (Sandy) of Blowing Rock, NC (and their families); a niece, Liz Powell (David) of Cornelius, NC (and their families).
Private services will be held.
