James Oscar Singleton Jr. "Joe", 90, of Inman, SC, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Eden Terrace of Spartanburg after an extended illness. Born June 28, 1928, in Winston-Salem, NC, he was the last survivor of seven children of the late James Oscar Singleton Sr. and Florene Lollis Singleton. He was married for 60 years to the late Nancy Stone Singleton. A U. S. Air Force veteran, Mr. Singleton retired as warehouse manager from the Milliken Cotton Blossom Plant in 1992. He lived in Cheddar, Charleston, Wyoming, and Aberdeen, NC before moving to Inman. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church where he served at a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Golden Age. Survivors include his daughters, Hollie Dean and her husband William of Carthage, NC, and Cindy Moore and her husband David of Inman, SC; four grandchildren, William Dean II, Elizabeth Hoyle, Emily Moore Lane, and Jeremy Moore; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. A graveside service, with military rites by American Legion Post #28, will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 26, 2018, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29307, by The Rev. Rufus Chaneyworth. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
