James Sidney Rutledge, Sr.

James Sidney “Sid” Rutledge, Sr., 84, of Wellford, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Spartanburg Regional Hospice Home. Sid was born on June 29, 1941, in Atlanta Georgia, a son of the late Martha Glynn Crymes Rutledge and Charles Tillman Rutledge, Sr.

Sid was a skilled mechanic, working at Spartan Undies for over 20 years and later operating his own business, Rutledge Enterprises. He was a 32̊ Mason with membership with Lodge 201 AFM in Inman, SC.

He is survived by his grandchildren, Halie Rutledge, Bradley Rutledge and Amber Ferguson; his great-grandchildren, Aiden, Blyth, Julie Anne, Jaidyn, Cincere, Leviticus, Natilyne, and Kyler; and his brother, Ronnie Rutledge (Ann). Along with his parents, Sid was also predeceased by his sons, James S. Rutledge, Jr., David E. Rutledge, and Matthew N. Rutledge; and a brother, Charles Tillman Rutledge, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 pm Thursday, March 12, 2026, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Highway 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. Funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2026, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Jeff Rutledge. Burial will follow at Boiling Springs Memorial Gardens.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, that an act of kindness or a time of fellowship be shared with others.
