James Rice

James E. Rice, 87, of Pacolet, SC, died Tuesday, August 16, 2022. Born February 14, 1935 in Pacolet Mills, SC, he was the son of the late James E. and Nettie Rice.

James was a faithful member of Pacolet Mills Baptist Church. He retired from Hoechst Fibers and Town of Pacolet. James faithfully delivered for Meals on Wheels for over 30 years. He served his country in the US Air Force.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Nancy Laura Wilkins Rice; children, Jeffery Rice (Rhonda) of Pacolet and Melanie R. Ward (Eric) of Stone Station; and siblings, Barbara Grubbs, Margaret Cook, and Billy Rice. Along with his parents, James was predeceased by two brothers, Ken Rice and Bob Rice.

Visitation will be 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Floyd’s Pacolet Chapel, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 PM at Pacolet Memorial Gardens, 141 Memorial Dr., Pacolet, SC 29372, conducted by the Rev. Norman Band.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Pacolet Mills Baptist Church, 350 Stone St., Pacolet, SC 29372.
