James “Ed” Edward Maddox entered his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at his residence with family by the bedside. He was 77 years old and he will always be remembered for his generous heart.
Ed, as he was affectionately known, was born in Spartanburg County. He was the son of the late Furman Lafell Maddox and the late Mary Catherine Wilson Maddox. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; with his grandchildren holding a special place in his heart. In his spare time, you might find him at the lake fishing for striped bass, working in his yard, or tending to his garden. Ed will be missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him.
Left to cherish Ed’s many memories are his loving wife of thirty-five years: Barbara J Maddox; his children: Joey Maddox (Rachelle), Rianne Wilkins (Chuck), John Maddox (Amy), Aaron Smith (Nicole), Neely Soukup (Jeremy), and Amber Hamby (Jeremy D). His grandchildren and great grandchildren will also cherish his memories for years to come.
The family will receive friends between 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Floyd’s Boiling Springs Chapel, 4161 Hwy 9 North, Boiling Springs, SC 29316. You are cordially invited to join the family celebrating a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for memorial contributions made in Ed’s memory to the Gibbs Cancer Center-Spartanburg or Spartanburg Regional Hospice.
Ed will continue to live in the hearts of his family and friends, who he loved so dearly.
