Iris W. Valley, born on March 4, 1936, in Alamance County, North Carolina, peacefully departed this world on September 10, 2024, in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Known for her lovingly feisty and spicy personality, Iris was a woman who brought warmth and joy to everyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Her remarkable career spanned over three decades at Spartan Undies, but it was through her work with Restoring the Foundations Ministry that she truly dedicated herself to helping others. Iris poured her heart into guiding those through their hurts and wounds, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.
Iris was not just a devoted professional; she was a loving mother and an exceptional wife. Her flair for hospitality earned her the affectionate title of "Queen of Hospitality." Always dressed to the nines, she loved to entertain, ensuring that every gathering was filled with laughter and love. Passionate about life, Iris found joy in painting and loved flowers.
Iris is survived by her beloved daughter, Beverly J. Henderson (Mike) of Spartanburg; brother, Max Hughey of Rutherfordton, NC; and sister, Becky Doggett of Spindell, NC. She also leaves behind stepchildren, Deena Spradlin (Ronnie Wilson) of Boiling Springs, Ingrid Phillips (Dwight) of Arden, NC, and Gentry Valley (Christine) of Canton, MI, along with numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who all cherished her deeply.
She reunites in loving memory with her late husband, Carl Whisnant, who predeceased her in 1992, as well as her last husband, Donald Valley, who passed away in 2022. She is also preceded in death by her sister, Judy James, and her brother, Hal Hughey.
A Visitation will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Free Chapel - Spartanburg, followed by a Celebration of Life from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location, service will be conducted by Rev. Larry Braswell and Dr. Randal Langley. Friends, family, and all who were touched by Iris's spirit are invited to come together to celebrate her beautiful life and legacy.

Iris W. Valley will be remembered for her passionate spirit, her unwavering support of those in need, and the love that she shared with all who knew her. Her legacy of love and kindness will forever be etched in the hearts of her family and friends.
