Houa Thao, age 77, was born on February 1, 1949, in Laos to the late Tongseng Thao and Youa Xiong. She passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren on March 19, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Tou Thao of Thailand, and her sisters, Dawb Thao of Oklahoma and Mai Thao of Minnesota.

Houa is survived by her brothers, Vang Pheng Thao and Pao Thao, both of California; and her sisters, Neng Thao of California and Mee Thao of Laos.

She was the beloved widow of the late Youa Ge Lor of Spartanburg. Together, they shared 50 precious years of marriage.

She is also survived by her eight children:Mai Yang Lor (late Kawalue Yang) of Spartanburg,Chong Toua Lor (Yia Vang) of Spartanburg,Thao Jackson (Anthony Jackson) of Campobello,Mee Yang (Ger Yang) of Wisconsin,Chue Lor (Chong Vang) of Spartanburg,Tong Lor (Der Lor) of Inman,Jim Lor (Phua Thao) of Spartanburg, andTerry Lor (Brong Thao) of Roebuck.

Houa was a proud grandmother to 44 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherished deeply.

In her free time, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family, which brought her great joy and fulfillment.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 121 Quail Dr, Spartanburg, SC 29302. Burial will immediately follow at Heritage Memorial Gardens, 3901 S. Church St Ext, Roebuck, SC 29376.
