Hildegard “Hilda” Shumpert was called to her heavenly home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the age of 87.

Hilda, as she was affectionately known, was born in Berlin, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Walter Hoffmann and the late Hildegard Goudron Hoffmann. She was also preceded in death by her husband: Donald R. Shumpert; her first husband and the father of her children: Albert C. Bianco; also, a brother Rudolf Hoffmann and stepmother Anna Frank Hoffmann.

Hilda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her faith was very important to her, and she was active in church and had a generous spirit.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends both in the United States and Germany. She was an entrepreneur and owned and operated a restaurant (College Corner in Columbia, SC). She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and anything chocolate. She was never too busy for a game of Yahtzee, sudoku, or Skip-Bo. She loved living in the United States but never forgot her German heritage. She will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

Left to cherish her many memories are her two sons: Albert C Bianco, Jr (Carol) and Mike Bianco (Angie); a daughter: Hilda Yost (Duane); 12 grandchildren that called her “Omi”: Lauren Smith, Lydia Alleman (Mike), Albert C Bianco III, Harrison Bianco (Grace), Nathaniel Bianco (Frankie), Teresa Bianco, Claudia Newton (Daniel), Shannon Yost (Alex), Ashley Yost, Priscilla Bianco, Walter Bianco, and Hanna Bianco; Eight wonderful great grandchildren: Zoey Alleman, Mikey Alleman, Zane Alleman, Caleb Alleman,Owen Alleman, Benjamin Bianco, Arthur Durham, and Beatrice Newton.

The family will receive friends between 12:00 – 1:00 PM on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Providence Presbyterian Church, 1665 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307. The funeral service to honor her life will be held at 1:00 PM following the visitation,Pastor Kevin Morris will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest following the funeral service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.

Hilda will continue to live in the hearts of her family and friends.
