Herman Allan Waddell, 75, of Spartanburg, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Allan was born March 13, 1951, in Spartanburg, a son of the late Herman and Connie Leonard Waddell of Greer, SC.
Allan was a proud US Army veteran serving in the Vietnam War and later in Germany. He attended Greenville Technical College and retired from Bradshaw Automotive. Allan attended Fairforest Baptist Church and First Baptist Church-Spartanburg. When he was no longer able to attend church because of failing health, he was a faithful follower of ALIGHT ministry at First Baptist.
Allan was a big fan of Atlanta Braves baseball, the Clemson Tigers and NASCAR automobile racing. Fishing, hunting, and playing golf with his son Brandon were other pastimes that brought much joy to Allan’s life.
Surviving is his loving wife of 36 years, Lynn Fortner Waddell; his sons, Brandon Allan Waddell of Lyman, SC and Jason Cantrell (Christen) of Converse, SC; his grandson, Eli Coffman, and his sister, Janice Sutherland of Greer.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:45 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. A funeral service to honor God and the life of Allan will follow at 11:00 a.m., in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. James C. Hilton. Burial, with military honors by the US Army Honors Team, will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brandon Waddell, Jason Cantrell, Josh Fortner, Eli Coffman, Jake Morris and Matt Knight.
