Helen Griffin Garren

Helen Griffin Garren, 95, of Spartanburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at her home.  She was born December 29, 1927, in Hendersonville, NC., and was a daughter of the late Samuel Paul and Onnie Lucille Dyer Griffin and was the wife of William Guthrie Garren for 60 years.

Helen was a long-time active member of the Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed cooking and reading.

Survivors include her daughter, Kay Garren Pennington (Louis) of Boiling Springs, SC.; a son, Donald Garren of Spartanburg; four grandchildren, Stephanie Pennington (Jason), Melanie Thomas (James), Lisa Garcia, and Jennifer Williams; two great grandchildren, Matthew and Kaitlyn Thomas.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-1:45 PM, Monday, June 19, 2023, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Scott Gilmer and the Rev. Jack Polin. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC  29307. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gravely Memorial United Methodist Church, 7400 Lone Oak Boulevard, Spartanburg, SC  29303.
