Hearin Watson Burgin, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away on October 10, 2025, in Spartanburg, South Carolina, after a lengthy illness. He was born on March 5, 1936, in Greenville, South Carolina, to the late Marion Walker Burgin and Delia Irene Seay Burgin.

An Army Veteran, Hearin served his country with honor before embarking on a career as a Pressman for the Spartanburg Herald Journal, where he worked for over 40 years. His life was complemented by his passion for music; for many years, he served as a music director at various churches in the area, sharing his love of music and leading congregational worship.

Hearin was known for his outgoing and loving personality, which endeared him to many. He had a remarkable gift for storytelling, often bringing a comical view to family adventures with his ability to weave humor into everyday life

As an avid fan of Green Bay Packers football, Hearin enjoyed the camaraderie and joy that such passions often bring, further illustrating his vibrant approach to life. He found joy in simple pleasures and deeply valued the time spent with family and friends.

He is survived by his daughter, Allison Brady (Mark Canty) of Moore, South Carolina, and his grandchildren, Spenser Brady, Logan Brady (Allison), and Brandon Brady, who will forever be in their hearts. Hearin also leaves behind his brother, Marion Burgin (Sallie), his sisters, Peggy Edwards, and Betty Snow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hearin was predeceased by his son, W. Brent Burgin, and his brother, Paul Burgin.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the CNA’s and Nurses at Spartanburg Regional – 3rd Floor Tower and to the staff at Hospice House of Landrum.

While he will be missed, his spirit will endure in the laughter and love he brought into the lives of those around him.

Graveside services will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
