Harold Murphy, Jr.

Harold Lear Murphy Jr, age 86, of Pacolet, died on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at the Spartanburg Regional Medical Center.  He was born June 21, 1936 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Harold Lear Murphy Sr. and Ila Faye Lee Murphy.  He was married to the late Peggy Sullivan Murphy for 63 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church Spartanburg. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years of service.  Harold was a member of the Pacolet Ruritan Club and the Spartanburg County Road Commission.  He was a golf enthusiast who made a hole-in-one on November 15, 2016 at the age of 80.

He is survived by a son, Keith Alan Murphy (Lisa) and a daughter Lisa Murphy Hall; grandchildren Amy Murphy, Kate Murphy, Allison Crisp (Dustin) and Christopher Hall (Jesse); great-grandsons Hudson Crisp, Nathan Crisp and Rhett Hall. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a sister Barbara Cuthbert and a grandson Matthew Alan Murphy.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 19, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens at 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307, conducted by the Rev. Sal Barone and the Rev. Eddie Robertson. Visitation will be at the graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Recreation Ministry, 250 E. Main Street, Spartanburg, SC  29306.
