Hal G. Warlick, Jr., age 89, of Inman, SC, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, June 13, 2023. Born April 21, 1934, in Spartanburg, SC, he was the son of the late Emma C. Warlick and Hal G. Warlick, Sr. and the husband of the late Betty B. Warlick for 39 years.
Mr. Warlick worked at Hoechst Celanese from 1965 through 1989. He was the President of Spartanburg Jaycees, the Director of the Red Cross and a lifeguard and swimming coach at Cleveland Park. He also served on the Spartanburg City Council for many years and was an Advisory Board Member for the Spartanburg Area Health Center, where he was an advocate for mental health service.
He earned his Master’s Degree at the University of Tennessee and was the Owner and Operator of B&W Housing. Mr. Warlick was a member of Inman First Baptist Church for 35 years.
Mr. Warlick is survived by his four children, H. Gaines Warlick, III of Chesnee, G. Christopher Warlick of Campobello, S. Leigh Warlick (Ellen) of Inman, and Edward Chalgren, IV (Christine) of Maryland. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Chelsea Warlick, John R. Hastings, Halford G. Warlick IV, Holly Chalgren and Carter Chalgren along with seven great grandchildren.
His graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 16, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, 1300 Fernwood Glendale Rd, Spartanburg, SC 29307, with the Rev. Dr. Paul Moore and the Rev. Todd Walters.
