Gwen Haynie Bratton, 73, of Spartanburg, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Spartanburg Medical Center. Gwen was born on April 7, 1950, in Belton, SC, a daughter to the late Elise Gurley Haynie and Ralph Edward Haynie.
Gwen was a member of Southside Baptist Church where she was a member of the Lit and Latte Book Club and the Groovy Grans. She enjoyed her time as a teacher of the Adult 2 Sunday School Class and as a member of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class.
She retired from Westside Dermatology after more than 20 years of service.
Gwen is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Tommy J. Bratton, Sr.; her daughter, Alison Lawson (Mike) of Youngsville, NC; her daughter-in-law, Laura Bratton of Asheville, NC; her sister, Charlene Scott (Dwayne); and her 6 grandsons, Brandon Lawson, Nicholas Lawson, Zachary Lawson, Ryan Bratton (Keelin Walsh), Jake Bratton and Ben Bratton. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas J. Bratton, Jr.; and her brother, Dennis Haynie.
The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 p.m. Friday, March 1, 2024, in the Parlor of Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., in the church sanctuary, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Schuyler Peterson. Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, 1300 Fernwood-Glendale Road, Spartanburg, SC 29307.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church, 316 South Church Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306.
