Gordon "Bill" Reeves, born on August 23, 1943, in Pickens, South Carolina, passed away on May 13, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio. Gordon was a cherished member of his community and will be remembered for his warm spirit and dedication to his family and faith.
Gordon spent the majority of his life in Pickens County before marrying Martha Lanford Smith Reeves in 2004 and relocating to Spartanburg. He retired from the Greenville County School District, where he touched the lives of many students and colleagues.
He was a member of Jackson Baptist Church, Gordon found joy in attending services, participating in Bible study, and sharing his faith with others. His love for sports, particularly college football and the Clemson Tigers, was a defining aspect of his personality, and he took great pleasure in watching games and rooting for his team.
Gordon leaves behind a loving family, including his stepson Dennis Steven Smith, stepdaughter Janis Beatrice Hoffman, and stepdaughter Joanna Lynn Smith. He is also survived by eight step-grandchildren and five great step-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Martha Lanford Smith Reeves, as well as his parents, Fields and Sarah Breazeale Reeves. Gordon is also mourned by his late siblings: Edna Reeves Cox, Etta Mae Reeves McRee, Thelma Louise Reeves Fletcher, Edward Reeves, Charles Reeves, Carl Reeves, Adolphus Marvin Reeves, Talmadge Eugene Reeves, and Ray Reeves.
A graveside service will be held in his honor on May 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Charlie Spurlock officiating, located at 1302 Little Mountain Road, Wellford, South Carolina.
