Gerry Thomas Nix went to be with his Lord and savior on November 19, passing peacefully at his home in Cowpens, SC. He was born in Spartanburg SC to the late William Edward Nix and Ruth Evelyn Simpson Nix.
Gerry proudly served in the United States Air Force, a commitment that reflected his strength, discipline, and love for his country. After his military service, He retired from Norfolk Southern Railway. He was a faithful member of Fairforest Church of God, where he also served as a custodian for 39 years. Gerry loved spending time with his wife and friends at his winter home in Florida.
Gerry found pleasure spending time with his family and cherishing every moment with those he loved.
Gerry is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Betty l. Nix; children: Todd (Barbara) Nix, Greg Nix and Debbie (Todd) Hill; four grandchildren: Justin (Adah) Nix, Josh (Emily) Nix, Lindsay (Chris) Farris, and Megan Nix; seven great grandchildren: Jameson, Everly, Blyss, Sawyer, Hazel, Reed and Nora; one sister, Pam North and two brother: Wallace Nix and Bubba Nix.
We would like to thank Agape Hospice for their compassion and care with special thanks to his nurses; Soulin and Lisa.
The family will receive friends between 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Floyd’s Greenlawn Chapel, 2075 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29307 followed by a memorial service to honor his life at 2:00 PM conducted by Rev. Stephen Ruppe.
