George Lawrence Sprouse, 69, of Jonesville, died Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Spartanburg Regional Mary Black Campus. A native of Cowpens, he was born on January 19, 1954, a son of the late George Wilson and Maebell Hill Sprouse. 

 

He was a member of Solid Rock Church, a mechanic in the heating air-conditioning industry. Besides his family, his biggest love was fishing. 

 

He is survived by his wife, Virginia Johnson Sprouse; daughter, Alisha Johnson (Marshall) of Roebuck; son, Dwayne Sprouse (Tara) of Woodlawn, Va.,  step daughters, Wendy Kaczmarek (Richard) and Jennifer McVey (Peter); grandchildren, Brandon, Andrew, Haley, Bradley, Austin, Luke, Faith, Hope, Sabrina, Zoey, Blake, Tarren, Taylor, Tiffany, Michelle, Danielle, Brittany, Joshua, Savannah and Lauren; 19 great grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Sprouse (Jean) and David Sprouse; sisters, Alma Parker and Betty Whitt. He was predeceased by his daughter, Buffy Sprouse; siblings, Paul Sprouse, Christine Johns and Ruby Weathers. 

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 2:45 pm Sunday, January 21, 2024, at Solid Rock Church, 1326 Union Street, Spartanburg, SC 29302. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 pm in the church conducted by Pastor Randy Lewis and Pastor Arnie Blackwell. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Solid Rock Church.
