George Eugene Foster, 89, of Roebuck, SC, died Friday, August 26, 2022 at Brushy Creek Post-Acute Care Center. Born April 14, 1933 in Roebuck, SC, he was the son of the late John T. and Minnie Jennings Foster and the husband of the late Helen Johnson Foster for 63 years.
A US Army veteran serving at Fort Knox, Mr. Foster was retired from Trans Continental Gas Line (Williams & Co.) after 38 years of service. He was a graduate of Roebuck High School.
George was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a Youth Director, Sunday School Class teacher, sang in the choir and a Deacon. He served on the Cemetery Committee and on the Building Committee.
Survivors include many loving nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was predeceased his brothers, Cecil Foster, Clyde Foster, Wilbert Foster, Roy Foster, Ben Foster, Claude Foster and John Henry Foster; his sister, Mildred Cannon, Ruby Noel, and Louise Leonard; his nephew, Ray Jarrett, that was reared in the home; and his fur babies Cindi and Heidi.
Visitation will be 10:00 – 10:50 am Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 797 Old Georgia Road, Moore, SC 29369. A Memorial service will be 11:00 am at the church, conducted by The Rev. Joe Burnett and The Rev. Jim Oliver. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
